Our school was honored to invite Dr Thomas So, BBS, MH, JP to Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union Logos Academy to deliver a keynote address at the senior secondary assembly, entitled “The Road of China’s Innovation and Technology.” Dr So, a scholar of distinguished attainment, has long focused on the nation’s scientific and technological development and innovation policies. He has been dedicated to promoting innovation and technology education and broadening young people’s horizons, making him one of the most influential advocates of innovation and technology in our time.
In his lecture, Dr So guided students through a review of the nation’s remarkable achievements in aerospace and aviation—from the “Chang’e” lunar exploration program to the construction of the “Tiangong” space station. He explained in an accessible yet insightful manner how China has achieved leapfrog development within a relatively short period, showcasing its capacity for independent innovation and growing national strength. At the same time, Dr So connected these milestones with global technological trends, looking ahead to the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and sixth-generation (6G) communications technology, inspiring students to reflect on how technology may reshape society, the economy, and even human life.
Rich in content and highly inspiring, the lecture not only deepened students’ understanding of the nation’s progress in science and technology but also cultivated their forward-looking vision and innovative mindset. It encouraged the younger generation to seize the opportunities of the era, equip themselves proactively, and contribute to the future of our country and society. Our school will continue to invite experts and scholars from diverse fields to broaden students’ horizons and nurture a new generation with both a strong sense of national identity and a global outlook.
