During the Lunar New Year holiday of the 2025–2026 school year, the Chinese History Department organized a five-day, four-night study tour to Nanjing. Twenty-five students from MS1 to MS3, accompanied by three Chinese History teachers, embarked on a meaningful journey that combined history, culture, and experiential learning.

The itinerary included several iconic historical and cultural landmarks, such as the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Mausoleum, the Six Dynasties Museum, the Grand Bao’en Temple, the Zhonghua Gate, and the Qinhuai River. Through on-site exploration, students gained deeper insights into Nanjing’s rich historical heritage and its transformation into a modern city.

The group also visited Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics to learn about China’s advancements in aerospace science and technology. This experience broadened students’ horizons and provided valuable reference points for their future academic and career planning.

A highlight of the study tour was the visit to the Memorial Hall of the Victims in the Nanjing Massacre. Guided by their teachers, students examined historical records and exhibitions to understand the realities of the Japanese invasion of China, reflecting on the importance of peace and historical memory. All participants paid tribute to the victims by presenting flowers at the memorial monument.

This Nanjing study tour marked the successful conclusion of the school’s “Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan” series of activities launched in September 2025. Through experiential learning, students deepened their understanding of history, strengthened their cultural identity, and cultivated a greater appreciation for peace.
