金齡圖書館 - Golden Library
At our school, we are committed to fostering meaningful learning experiences that extend beyond traditional reading. As part of the Reading Across the Curriculum (RAC) initiative, our DS5 students recently explored a touching story about a grandmother during their Chinese lessons. To deepen this engagement, the Careers and Life Planning Team collaborated with Essence Hub (金齡薈) to organise a Human Library activity. This unique programme provided students with the opportunity to interact directly with elders who generously shared their life experiences and wisdom.
Through these conversations, students gained valuable insights into the realities of different life stages, inspiring them to pursue their aspirations with the same passion and perseverance demonstrated by their mentors. Complementing this initiative, our library is currently showcasing a curated selection of books that highlight cross-generational relationships. Meanwhile, the Family Life Education (FLE) curriculum is preparing lessons that draw upon the invaluable experiences of parents and grandparents, further enriching students’ perspectives.
This RAC initiative exemplifies our dedication to nurturing intergenerational connections, broadening students’ horizons, and encouraging them to learn from the diverse voices within our community. It is a collaborative effort led by the Chinese Department, Careers and Life Planning Team, Family Life Education Department, and the library.
